Doing Business in Jasper
Amidst the pineywoods and nearby lakes of Deep East Texas, you’ll find Jasper, the seat of Jasper County. As “Jewel of the Forest”, Jasper enjoys the reputation for having the best of what a smaller community has to offer. The historic courthouse, built in 1889, towers over the town square, which offers 2 bed and breakfasts, 2 art galleries, specialty shops, and the old county jail which houses the archives. Jasper began as one of the many Texas sawmill towns in the late 1800’s. The coming of the railroad brought Jasper its own branch line and firmly established the town as a leader in the logging industry. Today, lumber is still king, but the local economy has changed dramatically. Tourism has taken great strides, and associated businesses have been developing and expanding. The development of Sam Rayburn Lake, Martin Dies Jr. State Park, and nearby national forests have made Jasper a year-round tourist destination.
The establishment of the Jasper Airport Industrial Park has added another dimension to our thriving economy. A project of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation, this state-of-the-art airport park serves as a major force in attracting new businesses to the Jasper area. Another industrial area on the east side of town is being improved to allow greater rail access for heavy industry.
With the tall pines softly cradling our quiet community, making it a haven for all to enjoy our natural beauty and recreational opportunities, combined with ever expanding businesses and job opportunities, Jasper is truly the place to come for a weekend or a lifetime!
